Hawaii's Foster Care Resource

Hale Kipa Independent Living Program

Hale Kipa offers a variety of Independent Living Programs for youth ages 12 – 22.

Community Based Programs – funded by DHS

Serving foster youth in the care of the Department of Human Services, all areas of independent living are addressed as dictated by client’s wishes, Ansell-Casey Life Skills Assessment and case consultation with other team members.

  • PREP Program serves foster youth ages 12 – 15 years to assist in school success, personal relationships, appropriate choices, budgeting, health, nutrition and community resources.  Program offers both individual and group sessions in the youth’s own home/community.
  • Outreach Program serves foster youth ages 16 – 18 years of age.  Major focus of work is completion of high school education, preparation/exploration of college/vocational school options, application to institutes of higher learning, financial aid and scholarship search.  Done in mostly one-on-one sessions, youth are prepared for life as a young, independent adult.
