Mental Health and Developmental Health Issues for Young Children in Foster and Kinship Care

Follow this link for handouts and information relating to this training by Dr. Joy Osofsky, Ph.D. Dr. Osofsky is a psychologist and psychoanalyst and Professor of Pediatrics and Psychiatry at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in New Orleans. She has also served on the Pew National Commission for Children in Foster Care. She has received wide recognition and numerous awards for her pioneering work and leadership with our nation’s most vulnerable young children.

Dr. Joy Osofsky, Ph.D., reviewed the impact that maltreatment & violence exposure has on the brains of young children, and how this affects their emotional,  behavioral, developmental, and physical health. Tips to remediate the impact of a child’s prior  adverse experiences were presented.
