Citizenship for International Adoptees

Previous to the Automatic Citizenship Act of 2000, any child who entered the U.S.through an international adoption is not an American citizen until the family applies to naturalize the child.  This is very important to do!!

Like us, you have undoubtedly heard stories about international adoptees who never became naturalized citizens; turned 18; were involved in criminal activity; and were deported to their country of birth! This is very possible and has happened in a number of cases based on the Immigration Reform & Immigrant Responsibility Act. These are tragic situations

Remind and encourage families you know to go through the naturalization process!
