Enhancement Funds Available

Family Programs Hawai‘i receives funding from the Bradley and Victoria Geist Foundation and the Theresa Hughes Foundation to provide Enhancements Funds to children.

Activities and items funded include tutors, summer school tuition,  self esteem programs such as sports, dance, scouting, martial arts and music,  special events such as proms graduation, travel to the mainland or Neighbor Islands and special projects such as back-to-school items.  A maximum of $500 per year per child will be considered.  Requests for Enhancement Funds must come from a social worker, therapist, GAL or VGAL working with the child.

Geist Foundation Funds

Recipients of Geist funds must be placed by a Hawai‘i State agency in a kinship, foster, respite, guardianship, permanent custody or adoptive family.  They must reside in Hawai‘i and be under 18 or under 21 if still in high school.  To request funds for Geist-eligible children, ask the child’s social worker or GAL to submit the Enhancement Fund Form.

Theresa Hughes Foundation Funds

Children eligible for funds from the Theresa Hughes Foundation include those who have been abused, abandoned or neglected, even if they are still living in the abusive situation.  Children must be under 18 and reside in Hawai‘i.  For Hughes- eligible children, please contact Family Programs Hawai‘i directly at 521-9531 ext 234 on Oahu or 935-2876 in East Hawai‘i.
