ONGOING TRAINING REQUIREMENT FOR RESOURCE CAREGIVERS
As all states are mandated to establish an Ongoing Training Requirement for Resource Caregivers by the Federal Government to further ensure the safety and support of our children, youth and all of our families, the Hawaii Department of Human Services has initiated a Mandatory Ongoing Training Requirement for all licensed resource families beginning 1/1/13. FREE Training on Caregivers and the Courts
We are excited to announce that we will be traveling statewide October through December this year providing a FREE training to Resource Families, along with Hawaii’s Family Court Judges, to share the importance of Resource Caregivers attending the court hearings of their foster children and youth. HI H.O.P.E.S. Youth Leadership Board
There are currently two openings on the HI H.O.P.E.S. Youth Leadership Board. APPLICATION DEADLINE is January 6, 2012. This Board is made up of current and former foster youth who provide the “youth voice” for the Hawai`i Youth Opportunities Initiative (HYOI). HYOI provides foster youth with financial literacy training. After a youth has completed the training, s/he receives help in opening savings accounts as well as matching funds. The HI H.O.P.E.S. Youth Leadership Board helps the HYOI to identify the needs of and advocate on behalf of transition-aged foster youth. Follow link to learn more and to download application.

Hawai`i Youth Conservation Corps Programs
We want to alert you to the wonderful, hands-on, FREE Hawaii Youth Conservation Corps (HYCC) programs open to students STATEWIDE. The three main programs which HYCC provides are the (1) Year Round Internship Program, (2) Summer Program and (3) Second Year Summer Program.
Youthbuild Honolulu
Youthbuild Honolulu is currently looking for qualified applicants for next year’s classes. They provide alternative education and job training services to non-high school graduates, ages 16-24. Services include a high school diploma program, vocational and hands-on construction training, leadership development, and job readiness and placement services.
